Mary Marg Helgenberger, born November 16, 1958, in the US, is an actor. She began her acting career in the 1980s. The role she played in Siobhan in the daytime soap-opera titled Ryan's Hope in 1982-1986 was what brought her to the attention of the public. Her most well-known role is her character of Catherine Willows in the CBS police procedural drama. Crime Scene Investigation (2000-13) and the subsequent TV movie Immortality (2015). Vegas (present-day) is an update to the earlier film. Helgenberger is also known for playing the role of K.C. Koloski in China Beach, an ABC drama China Beach (1988-91) which earned her the 1990 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting actress in the Drama Series. In addition, she has appeared on the TV programs Under the Dome, Intelligence, and the movies Species (1996) Species II (1998), Erin Brockovich (2000) as well as Mr. Brooks (2007). She is the oldest of their children. McCain was a student at in the Phoenix Country Day School, an all-girls, private Catholic school. In 2007, she earned a bachelor's in art history from Columbia University. She joined The View in 2017 and was co-hosting the show through 2021. McCain was awarded 4 Daytime Emmy nominations. McCain was also an Daily Mail journalist after her three year stint with The View.
